Greetings from the airport!

What a week! It’s been a bit of a hectic one yet again! Now I am sitting at Helsinki Airport, enjoying a vegan kale salad and a mango smoothie at the lovely Pier Zero restaurant, which I believe offers the healthiest options at T2 on the Schengen side. I am flying to Oulu on business today, which is a small city more in the north of Finland. It will be just a short trip, as I am heading back already tomorrow. Then from Helsinki, I go to pack my bags in Turku and fly out to Malta on Saturday night.

One thing I also noted again as I am sitting here sipping down my mango smoothie, is that there’s no place I feel more at home than at an airport – and especially so here at Helsinki Airport. It’s a place where I’ve spent more time than probably anywhere else, partly because before I got into PR and the world of social media, I used to work here. And I have to admit, no matter how much I love to do what I do, there are days that I really miss the wild ground handling days over here. No day would be the same!

Pier Zero is a great place to eat healthy at Helsinki Airport! Though, I must admit that I often prefer using a lounge as in the long run it’s not more expensive if you are spending more time at an airport. The access for example to Aspire Lounge is 35 euros, and I paid 25 for my salad and smoothie – if I would be after a glass of wine right now, it would have been more cost-effective to just go spend my couple of hours in the lounge!

I used to have lounge access for my mileage status but unfortunately was downgraded earlier this year – buhuu.

But I guess that’s all I have for today…Just thinking about life at an airport as I often do. But now it’s time to get my things together as it’s only 15 minutes until boarding, and I’ve made a complete mess. So, instead of doing that, I’m just enjoying looking at the departing aircrafts and thinking how lucky I feel to call this my life. Next year seems to be full of adventures too, both in the world of work and travel. I hope I get to visit Australia, Malaysia, Germany, Iceland, New York & California next year – let’s see!

See you on the road <3

I share the feeling. There’s few other places where so many emotions mix up. The arrivals hall, deprtures lounges, restaurants, duty free shops…each place has a completely different ambiance! But … to date I’ve never been to a lounge other than at work xD
